Event Notes: Typhoon Sanba Cancels Korea Open Matches

Typhoon Sanba's "heavy rains and strong winds" wiped out all first-round matches at the KDB Korea Open tennis tournament on Monday. Organizers of South Korea's only WTA event canceled four singles and two doubles matches scheduled at Center Court and Court 2 at Seoul's Olympic Park. The matches are rescheduled for Tuesday (YONHAP, 9/17). ... China's city of Nanjing is "expected to be filled with youthful enthusiasm," when the historic city hosts the second Asian Youth Games and the second Youth Olympic Games in the summers of '13 and '14 respectively. The Asian Youth Games will be held Aug. 16-24, with athletes between ages 14 and 17 competing in 118 events in 15 sports (CHINA DAILY, 9/14).
