Univision Deportes Gets U.S. Media Rights To French And German Football

Univision Deportes will become the U.S. Hispanic home of the German national team and the DFB Cup, the French national team and the French Cup, and France’s Ligue 1. The multi-year deals are exclusive in Spanish across multiple media platforms. The agreements will grant Univision Deportes media rights to all qualifiers played in Germany and France leading up to 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. The most anticipated match is France vs. Spain in March. Additionally, the contracts include the home friendly matches of the German and French national teams against Argentina, Italy, England and the Netherlands. Univision Deportes will also showcase matches of the DFB Cup, featuring 2012 UEFA Champions League finalists Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and Werder Bremen, and matches of the French Cup (Coupe du France), featuring Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, Montpellier HSC and Olympique de Marseille. Univision Deportes will also provide coverage of various matches from France’s Ligue 1. These acquisitions will fill Univision Deportes Network’s programming schedule with a week full of football matches, including national team matches on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; Cup matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and Ligue 1 games on Saturdays and Sundays (Univision).
