NBA, FIBA, RBF Host Basketball Without Borders Europe In Russia For First Time

The NBA, Int'l Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Russian Basketball Federation will host Basketball without Borders Europe in Russia for the first time. The camp will take place in Moscow from Sept. 13-16 and will be led by Russian NBA players Andrei Kirilenko, Alexey Shved (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Timofey Mozgov (Denver Nuggets). BWB Europe will feature current and former NBA players, former FIBA players and NBA team personnel as camp coaches for up to 50 of the most-talented young basketball players from more than 25 European countries. NBA players and coaches will also take part in community outreach activities as part of the league's global social responsibility program, NBA Cares. Along with the three NBA players who helped Russia capture the Bronze Medal in men's basketball at the London Games, additional camp participants will include NBA players Brooklyn Nets MarShon Brooks, San Antonio Spurs Danny Green and Dallas Mavericks Brian Cardinal, former NBA players Šarūnas Marčiulionis and Alexander Volkov. Russian basketball legends will also assist the coaches and players, including Dmitri Domani and Sergei Panov, who both formerly played at CSKA Moscow, and Soviet Union Olympic Gold Medalists Sergei Tarakanov and Valeri Tikhonenko (NBA).

SISTER SPORT: A SlamBall tournament, which is a form of basketball played with 4 trampolines in front of each net, was held this weekend at the Dragon Sports Center in Hangzhou, China. Thousands of people came out to watch the six-team tournament, which featured predominantly American players. Taiwan's CTV network covered the finals (IMG).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
