Indian MANU SAWHNEY is set to join ManU as Dir next month. The 45-year-old will join the club after a 16-year stint with ESPN Star Sports, "which saw him head the company's South Asia business in the capacity of Managing Dir from Oct. '07" (TNN, 8/18). ... Grand Prix of America President TOM COTTER announced he is resigning from his post. Cotter was appointed to the role back in January. He will leave his position at the end of the month. His duties will be taken over by the event's Chief Operations Engineer DENNIS ROBINSON and RICHARD GOLDSCHMIDT, the Special Assistant to race promoter LEO HINDERY JR. (AUTOSPORT.com, 8/21). ... Singapore-based ONE Fighting Championship appointed MMA legend MATT HUME as VP/Operations and Competition. Hume’s primary responsibilities include matchmaking and talent recruitment, managing standards in rules and regulations, and overseeing the show experience. Hume is one of the original pioneers of MMA and has been involved in the MMA industry for almost 25 years as a professional fighter, successful MMA coach, referee, judge and businessman (ONE FC). ... PHILIPPE GAYDOUL “has retired as president of the Swiss Hockey Federation.” His resignation “was expected as he also holds a stake in National League A club Kloten Flyers, which would lead to a conflict of interests.” The resignation will take effect on Sept. 18 (BLICK, 8/20).

MANAGERS: Serbia U-21 Coach ALEKSANDAR JANKOVIC has replaced ROBERT PROSINECKI as coach of Red Star Belgrade with a UEFA Europa League play-off against Girondinx de Bordeaux looming. The 40-year-old will coach Red Star Belgrade and the Serbia U-21 team in tandem until the end of the 2013 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying (UEFA). ... Swiss Super League club FC Luzern has appointed RYSZARD KOMORNICKI as coach after dismissing former Switzerland midfielder MURAT YAKIN for leading the team to a disappointing start to the Super League season. Komornicki, who was in charge of Luzern for a brief period in '01, has signed a contract until the end of the campaign (UEFA). ... New Zealand Warriors CEO WAYNE SCURRAH announced the sacking of coach BRIAN MCCLENNAN. McClennan was in the first year of a two-year contract. Assistant Coach TONY IRO "will take charge" for the team's last two matches. Scurrah hoped a permanent appointment "could be made at least a month before preseason training starts in November (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 8/22). ... TONY REA has signed a two-year deal "to become the permanent successor" to ROB POWELL as Super League club London Broncos coach. Rea initially ruled out anything other than taking over the job on a temporary basis, but he "had a change of heart and is ready for a second stint in charge." He coached the Broncos between '00 and '06 (LONDON TIMES, 8/21).
