Manchester City has hired FERRAN SORIANO as its new CEO. Soriano replaces GARY COOK who resigned almost a year ago. Soriano previously worked for Barcelona where he was the CEO and Vice-Chair (ELPERIODICO, 8/17). ... Austrian football champion Red Bull Salzburg terminated its contract with Managing Dir PETER VOGL. He will be replaced by JOCHEN SAUER, who is currently the sports director of German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. The 40-year-old Sauer will join Red Bull Salzburg on Sept. 1 (ORF, 8/16). ... FC Dinamo Moscow has hired ex-Romanian int'l DAN PETRESCU as their new coach. Petrescu replaces SERGEI SILKIN. The 44-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the club from the capital after resigning from his post at Russian Premier League rivals FC Kuban Krasnodar last week (UEFA).
