Bayern Munich acquired Spanish midfielder JAVI MARTINEZ from Athletic Bilbao for a club record €40M ($49.4M). The 23-year-old Martinez, who has eight Spanish national team caps under his belt, "is the most expensive player ever acquired by a German football team" (BILD, 8/16). ... French side Monaco has made official the signing of 18-year-old Argentine LUCAS OCAMPOS from River Plate. The transfer fee was reported to be €11M ($13.6M). Ocampos has agreed to a six-year deal with Monaco (L'EQUIPE.fr, 8/16). ... Real Madrid striker GONZALO HIGUAIN has agreed to an extension with the club through '16. The deal will be made official next week (MARCA, 8/16). ... LOUIS SAHA has agreed to a one-year deal with EPL club Sunderland. The 34-year-old former Fulham, Everton and ManU striker "has been without a club" since leaving Tottenham at the end of last season (BBC, 8/16).
