Broadcasters Mediapro, Prisa Reach Three-Year Agreement To Broadcast La Liga

Broadcasters Mediapro and Prisa have "reached an agreement" to share La Liga TV rights in Spain over the next three seasons, according to Vicente Ruiz of EL MUNDO. The broadcasters will "jointly exploit" the rights to the Primera and Segunda Division. The conditions of the deal are "similar to those of the past seasons," with the majority of matches divided between pay-TV networks Gol T (Mediapro) and Prisa's Digital+. However, no resolution was found in terms of which operator will show the free-to-air match. The one sure thing is that "this season abandons the traditional Saturday night slot for Monday in prime time." Since no deal has been reached for the free to-air-match, broadcaster La Sexta will air it this week to comply with the law that "makes it necessary to offer one match per round in this form." The signature of the contract "closes the latest battle in the Football War" (EL MUNDO, 8/16).
