Interviews for the Australian Rugby League Commission CEO job "will begin next week," and the list of contenders to replace DAVID GALLOP is down to six. Among those that have been linked to the job are: Racing NSW CEO PETER V'LANDYS, ANZ Stadium CEO DARYL KERRY, National Rugby League Canterbury Bulldogs CEO TODD GREENBERG, Panthers Group CEO WARREN WILSON, New Zealand Rugby League CEO JIM DOYLE, Australian Football League Essendon FC CEO IAN ROBSON, Former Federal Sports Minister MARK ARBIB, Former NSW opposition leader JOHN BROGDEN, NRL Wests Tigers CEO STEPHEN HUMPHREYS, interim ARLC CEO SHANE MATTISKE. The Sydney Morning Herald attempted to contact some of the candidates Monday, but none confirmed they had been invited to an interview (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 7/31).

MANAGERS: Former Slovakia's national football team coach VLADIMIR WEISS has quit as coach of Slovan Bratislava "over the team's poor recent performances at home and in Europe." Weiss, 47, who quit as national team coach earlier this year, has been in charge of Slovan Bratislava since Aug. '08 (AFP, 7/30). ... Pro12 rugby league Cardiff Blues have appointed former second row DEINIOL JONES as their new match-day team manager. Jones joined the Cardiff Blues in '04 from the Celtic Warriors but was forced to retire at the end of last season after a shoulder injury. Former Dragons fly-half LEE JARVIS has also been appointed to the backroom staff as a skills coach (BBC, 7/23).
