Sauber F1 Team In Talks With Volkswagen About Possible Partnership

The Sauber F1 team is "currently talking to German automaker Volkswagen" about a possible F1 involvement, according to Nimmervoll & Wittemeier of MOTORSPORT-TOTAL.com. Team Principal Peter Sauber has contacted Volkswagen to discuss a possible partnership. Volkswagen "estimates the chances for a successful ending to the negotiations and the beginning of an actual partnership at 30%." An aggravating circumstance might be that Sauber "does not hold a 100% stake" in the Swiss-based team anymore. Sauber transferred a third of his stake in the company to team CEO Monisha Kaltenborn in May (MOTORSPORT-TOTAL.com, 7/21).
