Germany's Semifinal Loss To Italy Sets New Record

Close to "28 million" people watched ARD's broadcast of Germany's semifinal loss to Italy at Euro 2012 on Thursday, according to the DPA. A total of 27.98 million viewers turned in to see the national team's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italy. That's a 76.8% market share, and the most watched match during the Euro 2012 tournament. The previous record stood at 27.67 million viewers during the group stage match between Germany and Denmark (DPA, 6/29).
TRACK AND FIELD: QUOTENMETER.de's Manuel Nunez Sanchez reported that the European Track and Field Championships slightly increased its ratings over the weekend. Only "a disappointing 1.16 million viewers" watched ZDF's opening day broadcast of the event on Wednesday. That's a 7.3% market share. On Saturday the number of viewers increased to 2.15 million and the market shared increased to "a solid 11.4%" (QUOTENMETER.de, 1/7).
