German Football Federation Increases Bonus For Euro 2012 Title

Big Bonus For Germans

Players of the German national team can look forward to some additional bonuses in case the team advances to, or wins, the Euro 2012 final, according to the DPA. Should Germany beat Italy on Thursday and advance to the Euro 2012 final game, "each of the 23 players and each member of the coaching staff will get a bonus of €150,000 ($190,000)." Even higher is the amount if the team wins the European Championship, in that case the German Football Federation (DFB) would pay each player a record bonus of €300,000 ($375,000). For a title at Euro 2008 or at the 2010 World Cup, the DFB would have paid "only €250,000 ($312,000) in bonuses to each individual." The DFB explained this increase in bonuses through "increased revenue" (DPA, 6/26).
