ManU will not be making its first pre-season trip to India this summer. Reports had emerged "suggesting the Red Devils were being lined up for a high-profile friendly with Juventus," scheduled to take place in Kolkata on Aug. 1. ManU officials said that "no trip to India will be incorporated within the team's pre-season schedule" (PA, 6/7).
POSTING UP: The PA reported that Premier League Newcastle influential chief scout Graham Carr signed an eight-year contract "to keep him with the club" until age 75. Carr identified much of the talent in Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew's team that finished fifth in the league, "defying expectations of a season of struggle" at St. James' Park (PA, 6/7).
