Winter Warmer: NFL Avoids Cold-Weather Super Bowl After All

With unseasonably warm weather the last few days, and game-time conditions expected to be clear and in the mid-40s, Super Bowl XLVIII is set to go off without weather issues. ESPN's Adam Schefter earlier today said, "New York and New Jersey got the best weather day of the winter so far. It is absolutely gorgeous right now" (ESPN, 2/2). NFL Network’s Rich Eisen: "When it is all said and done, it may not even be the coldest Super Bowl on record” (“NFL GameDay Morning,” NFL Network, 2/2).

As of presstime, no major transit issues were reported en route to MetLife Stadium from Manhattan. The Newark STAR-LEDGER's Steve Politi writes, "The first Super Bowl in New Jersey will be the last one if the host stadium or the logistics are a major story line in the days that follow the game." Newsday’s Bob Glauber tweeted, "As a native New Yorker, proud of the job done by the region. Gamble paid off. Congrats.”
