NBC Does Not Ignore Cycling's Link To Doping During Tour De France

NBC’s Bob Roll said there has been “a fundamental shift in the culture of doping in cycling.” Speaking during NBC’s “Tour de France” coverage, Roll added, “Perhaps 10 people still cheat, we’re always going to see that when there’s high stakes, especially with the Tour de France, but 90 percent of the riders are perceived to be racing clean.” NBC’s Scott Moninger: “There’s an attitude shift as well and a lot of it is coming from the younger generation, the 21-, 22-, 23-year-old riders. … The younger generation needs to be given a clean slate. They're really having to deal with the past and they shouldn’t have to. They need to move forward. It’s their sport now” (“Tour de France,” NBC, 6/30).
