Tigers Draw Record Crowd; Sellouts Across MLB Home Openers

Each of the six MLB home openers on Friday drew sellout crowds, including 45,051 for Yankees-Tigers, the "largest Opening Day crowd in Comerica Park history, and second-largest Comerica crowd overall" (DETROIT NEWS, 4/6). A crowd of 46,653 was on hand for Twins-Orioles, meaning the Orioles "have sold out every home opener since Camden Yards opened" in '92 (Baltimore SUN, 4/6). While the Phillies sold out Friday's home opener, the team yesterday announced attendance of 39,475 for their second home game against the Royals, the first time the team "announced a crowd less than 40,000 since April 29, 2009" (CSNPHILLY.com, 4/6).
