Heavy Wind Could Disrupt Syracuse-SDSU Battle On The Midway

In advance of today's Syracuse-San Diego State Battle on the Midway men’s basketball game at 1:00pm PT on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum, the “prevailing topic of conversation was the evening condensation that forced cancellation of both games on Navy ships on the East Coast.” Yesterday's weather saw wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour, “uncharacteristically strong, even for the elevated deck of [an] aircraft carrier moored just miles from the Pacific Ocean.” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said, “The conditions are what they are. We just have to go out and play the game” (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 11/11).

The future of primetime games at outdoor venues "could be in doubt" after Friday's cancellations of the Ohio State-Marquette Carrier Classic on the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C., and the Florida-Georgetown Navy-Marine Corps Classic on the USS Bataan in Jacksonville, Fla., both due to condensation issues (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 11/11).
