First-Ever Wild-Card Matchups Score Big For TBS

TBS averaged a 3.7 overnight Nielsen rating for the MLB Wild Card matchups on Friday. The net finished second in primetime for the night among all nets. In the first window at 5:00pm ET, Cardinals-Braves drew a 3.3 overnight, while Orioles-Rangers in the late window at 8:30pm ET drew a 4.4 overnight. For comparison, TBS averaged a 3.3 rating for its entire slate of LDS games last year.
Locally, fans in Baltimore tuned in for the Orioles' first playoff game since '97. The game drew a 20.1 local rating, marking the best for any MLB telecast on any net in Baltimore since the '04 Red Sox-Yankees ALCS Game Seven. The game also earned a 14.3 local rating in Dallas-Ft. Worth. For the Cardinals-Braves game, TBS earned a 20.4 local market rating in St. Louis and a 9.1 rating in Atlanta (TBS).
