Morning Buzz

Laugh Track....Where's Your Head At?

Last night’s edition of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” aired the recurring segment “I Apologize for Talking While You Were Talking,” which examined the NFL playoffs and whether the Panthers followed the concussion protocol with QB Cam Newton. Comedy Central’s Michael Kosta said, “This year the NFL is taking concussions a lot more seriously.” Comedy Central’s Roy Wood: “Exactly. If a player shows signs of head trauma, they are 100% getting pulled from the game.” Kosta: “Well, unless it's the playoffs.” Wood: “In which case, get back in there with your broken-brain ass” (“The Daily Show,” Comedy Central, 1/8).

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel said of President Trump's "Fake News Awards," which were supposed to be presented last night, "They've been postponed until next Wednesday. ... Postponing his own awards show is an odd and out-of-character move for a man who consistently delivers his promises in a very timely fashion. But Donald Trump didn't. I guess it's because he had to be in Atlanta tonight for the college football national championship game. … Trump was rooting for Alabama, for the Crimson Tide, because that's what he calls his face” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 1/8).
