Silence Between Arthur Blank, Jerry Jones Highlights Rift In NFL

The fissures in the NFL were on "full display" yesterday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with Jerry Jones and Falcons Owner Arthur Blank, who chairs the league's compensation committee, "standing on opposite sides of the field before the game and neither making a move to meet the other." It was a "rare bit of frostiness, Jones acknowledged, one of the few times he hasn’t exchanged pleasantries with a fellow owner." Jones said, "I’ve had games where I didn’t visit for whatever reasons. But it’s rare" (USA TODAY, 11/13).

Jones left the stadium "without speaking with Blank" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/13). He "made himself available for Blank throughout pregame warm-ups, standing in front of the Cowboys sideline" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 11/13). Jones said, "Usually, home owner comes over toward visiting sideline, we can talk on field, but there is nothing in the books, like standing for the anthem" (DALLASNEWS.com, 11/12). Jones "seemed more surprised than miffed" (WASHINGTON POST, 11/13).
