New Sports Network Stadium Launching Digital Feed Today

Multiplatform national sports network Stadium today formally debuts its 24-hour digital feed on Twitter, watchstadium.com and Pluto TV. The net is also preparing apps for Apple iOS, Android and connected TV platforms, with the over-the-air TV version of Stadium scheduled for a Sept. 6 launch. Stadium, created by the merging of assets from 120 Sports, Silver Chalice’s Campus Insiders and Sinclair Broadcast Group’s American Sports Network, will feature a variety of live games, studio programming and pro and college highlights.

The effort is aimed in part at reaching younger consumers not subscribing to traditional cable and satellite TV packages, but also providing a different voice from established sports media players such as ESPN. “For tens of millions of people, we’re certainly going to where they don’t have a sports network. But for the others, we believe we can be a viable alternative,” said Stadium CEO Jason Coyle.
