Fox Sports Signs Up For Nielsen's Out-Of-Home Ratings Service

Fox Sports is the second media company to subscribe to Nielsen’s out-of-home (OOH) ratings service, joining ESPN in measuring viewership at hotels, gyms, bars and the workplace. A formal announcement is expected to be issued later today, and the measurements are expected to be in place for the NFL’s regular season. Fox signed a multiyear deal to measure OOH data for Fox, FS1, FS2 and Fox Deportes each week. The agreement calls for Nielsen to provide ratings for everything from live programs to the Live+7-day measurement via its Portable People Meter.

Fox has said that when OOH viewing was added to last year’s NFL regular-season numbers, ratings jumped by 16% in the adults 18-49 demo. Fox also said that the NFL’s OOH ratings attract a younger, more diverse, more female and more affluent audience than traditional TV.
