Root Sports Begins In-Market Streaming For Four MLB Clubs

Root Sports has started authenticated in-market streaming for the Astros, Mariners, Pirates and Rockies. An in-market streaming deal between Root Sports and baseball’s digital arm had been reached prior to Opening Day, but public rollout was delayed due to technical issues. The introduction of the service for the four clubs, however, arrives without distribution from Comcast, which has a notable presence in each of those markets. Comcast confirmed it is not presently involved and has not reached a deal for in-market streaming of these clubs, but declined to offer more details. The Nationals, Orioles and Dodgers are now the only MLB clubs without the service.
