NBA, Twitter Line Up New Weekly Shows Under Extended Deal

The NBA and Twitter have finalized the two new live weekly studio shows that appear on the social media platform as part of their contract extension signed earlier this summer. “The Starters Twitter Show” starting today will stream live every Tuesday at 11:00am ET, featuring fan-focused conversation with hosts J.E. Skeets and Tas Melas. “The Warmup” will be a half-hour weekly pregame show Thursdays at 7:30pm. Hosted by Ben Lyons and Ro Parrish, it will mix basketball, pop culture and music, heavily incorporating Twitter conversation. “The Warmup” also will serve as run-up programming to TNT's “Inside The NBA.” The shows, produced by NBA Digital partner Turner Sports at its Atlanta HQ, will be available via the @NBA feed, on Twitter moments, and at dedicated websites thestarters.twitter.com and thewarmup.twitter.com.

The league will also nearly triple the amount of content it produces and distributes on Snapchat as a result of a renewed and expanded partnership with that platform. In addition to the development of Live Stories around key games and weekly NBA-themed Discover editions, the partnership calls for new NBA-themed personalized Bitmojis developed by Snapchat’s Bitstrips holding and Snapchat lenses. The deal marks the first time customized Bitmojis have been developed for a sports league.
