Wells Fargo Center Hits 20; Upgrades Coming For Philly Arena?

The Wells Fargo Center today "is marking its 20th anniversary." The arena, already "retrofitted to meet new demands in food service, customer amenities and especially technology, remains in its strapping prime, continuing to host up to 235 events a year." Wells Fargo Complex President John Page said, "If you spend the money and keep it up and plan for the future, it can certainly go beyond what some of the older buildings were able to. It's the right size. It's just a matter of what you do to update it."

In addition to suite and technology upgrades it has undergone these last two decades, Page and his team "are examining options that might, say, eliminate a chunk of existing concourse and some seats, replacing it all with a corporate-sponsored specialty amenity, like the upscale bars and restaurants" in the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium. Page: "We've got 126 suites. Maybe it's not 126 in the future. Maybe there's a way to repurpose some of those" (PHILLY.com, 8/30).
