Shannon Sharpe To Star Opposite Skip Bayless In FS1 Debate Show

FS1 today will announce that it has hired Shannon Sharpe to star in a debate show opposite Skip Bayless. The net will premiere the as-yet-unnamed studio show on Sept. 6 at 10:00am ET. It is expected to be as long as two hours, running opposite ESPN2’s “First Take.” Fox Sports National Networks President Jamie Horowitz: “We’re either early in development or very far along, depending on your point of view. We’re early in that we have not had a single rehearsal yet. We have not named a staff yet. We don’t even have a show title yet. But we’re very far along in that the most important part of the show – Skip and Shannon – have now officially been identified.”

Sharpe’s previous TV work was on CBS’ pregame show, “The NFL Today.” He filled in for Stephen A. Smith on “First Take” on occasion. Sharpe said he is looking forward to having more time to talk about topics than he did on “NFL Today.” Sharpe: “I feel like I can talk about anything. I’m fairly knowledgeable. What I don't know, I don't have a problem reading up on a topic. If I need to call a coach or a general manager or a player and ask, I don’t have a problem doing that. I will come to battle and debate every day on every topic. ... People don’t think that I think about what I’m going to say. But I do. I never want to have to go and apologize later for something that I said. I’m very thoughtful in that process. When I say it, I mean it.”
