Jaguars Draw 15,000-Plus For "Pokemon Go" Event At Stadium

The Jaguars estimate that more than 15,000 people attended last night's "Pokemon Go" event at EverBank Field, "well above the 9,651 who registered on the team's website." The franchise is "saying it created the largest Poke adventure" in the U.S. Jaguars VP/Marketing & Digital Media Steve Ziff said, "We actually knew it would be big, but we didn't know how big it was going to get." The event was "such a success that there is already talk of doing it again soon – and hopefully getting Jaguars owner Shad Khan in on the hunt, too" (ESPN.com, 7/25). Hundreds of "Pokemon Go" players "stood in the Florida heat lined up for hours before the doors even opened" at the scheduled 6:00pm ET start time. Since the "turnout was so large, staff opened the doors" at 5:30pm to "get the line moving earlier" (FIRSTCOASTNEWS.com, 7/25).

Meanwhile, sources said that EverBank Financial, which signed a naming-rights deal for the stadium in '10, is "exploring a sale after receiving interest from a potential suitor" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 7/25).
