Football Media Days: Drama-Free Sessions Expected For Big Ten

Chicago hosts the Big Ten media days today and tomorrow, with Commissioner Jim Delany scheduled to address the media on day two. Nebraska officials "have decided not to attend media days this year after the tragic death of punter Sam Foltz – who was killed in a car accident" yesterday morning (MLIVE.com, 7/25). The sessions "won't come close to making the news that last week's Big 12 gathering did" (OMAHA WORLD-HERALD, 7/25).

Also this week, Conference USA is holding its media days in Irving, Texas. Since the "Big 12 revealed it was courting expansion candidates, many have wondered whether other leagues such as the AAC and C-USA will be affected by it." This topic "will come up early and often." This also marks Judy MacLeod's first media days as Commissioner, and it "should be interesting to see" what she has to say about the league's new media rights deal (HATTIESBURG AMERICAN, 7/25).

The Sun Belt Conference kicks off its football media days today as well, and the "league's lineup changes surely will be a topic of conversation" at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (THEADVOCATE.com, 7/24). Between "expansion, reduction and the proposed championship game on the table, there are plenty of things floating around the periphery" of the conference (Monroe NEWS-STAR, 7/25).
