The Rams selected QB Jared Goff No. 1 overall in last night's NFL Draft, and for "dramatic purposes" they used "almost all 10 minutes of their allotted on-the-clock time ... and maybe more." The "countdown clock on the wall inside" Chicago's Auditorium Theatre "reached one minute, then mysteriously reset to 10 minutes." The process "dragged out so long that NFL Network hosts re-emerged on stage, to some impatient booing, simply to kill some time before the announcement" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 4/29). Goff joined ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night via satellite to an enthusiastic reception from the studio audience. Goff said of his reserved fashion choice, “I am a pretty standard guy. I wore a nice navy suit. I am very happy with it.” Goff said his first irresponsible purchase as an NFL player would be “a nice massage chair.” Show host Jimmy Kimmel’s asked, “Do you have any interest in being ‘The Bachelor’ while you’re here? … Do you have a girlfriend, can we get you a Kardashian or something like that? We really want you to be happy while you’re here.” Kimmel read Goff a list of potential nicknames for him. They included “J-Goff,” “American Goffic,” “David Hasselgoff,” “Turn Your Head and Goff,” “Kathie Lee Goffard” (Goff: “I don’t know who that is”) and “Goff the Magic Dragon” (ABC, 4/28).
