ESPN's McKendry Moving Off "SportsCenter" To Focus On Tennis

ESPN has signed Chris McKendry to a new multiyear deal that will see the longtime “SportsCenter” anchor shift to a tennis-focused role. Tomorrow’s 11:00am ET show will be McKendry’s final “SportsCenter” -- during which there will be a special segment looking back on her time with the program. McKendry, a former collegiate tennis player, made the choice to step away from the net’s flagship show and focus on fronting coverage of Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and Australian Open.

There has been no decision made yet on a permanent “SportsCenter” replacement for McKendry. Since joining ESPN in ’96, she also has covered the Little League World Series, Winter X Games, FIFA Women’s World Cup and Scripps National Spelling Bee. McKendry is repped by WME-IMG’s Sandy Montag.
