Digital Firm Perform Creates OptaUS For U.S. Data Operations

Digital sports media and content operation Perform has created OptaUS, a specialized arm of its sports data operation Opta devoted to collecting, packaging and distributing live data from major U.S. sports. Opta in recent years has been increasingly active in the U.S. working with MLS, NASL and other entities, supplementing its core base of operations in Europe. But the latest move comes after the buildup of a significant data collection facility in Charlotte to supplement its primary American commercial offices in N.Y.

OptaUS will be led by Perform VP/Content for North America Angus McNab and VP/Content for U.S. Sports Data Eric Kutzin. OptaUS data collection will start with baseball; pro and college football; and pro and college basketball, soon expanding into other sports. “This is way beyond an upgrade. This is essentially a reboot of everything we’ve been doing in terms of our U.S. data collection,” McNab said.
