NHL Announces Departure Of John Collins, Architect Of Winter Classic

The NHL announced that COO John Collins is departing the league to pursue a new business opportunity. He joined the NHL in '06 and has been COO since '08 (NHL). Collins has been "one of the key catalysts in spearheading the swelling of NHL revenues" to roughly $4B per year. He also "turned the Winter Classic into an annual must-watch event" and has been "responsible for the NHL's partnerships" with MLBAM, GoPro and adidas (TORONTO SUN, 11/25).
