N.Y. Attorney General Launches Inquiry Into DraftKings, FanDuel

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has begun an inquiry into the "prospect that employees of daily fantasy football sites have won lucrative payouts based on inside information," asking DraftKings and FanDuel for a "range of internal data and details on how they prevent fraud." Schneiderman also "demanded that the companies turn over details of any internal investigations into their employees." The move "may shed light on the inner workings of the sites." The companies "have until Oct. 15 to respond" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/7).

Meanwhile, DraftKings today will announce it is sponsoring 14 NHL teams for the '15-16 season, which begins tonight. The daily fantasy provider is a new sponsor of the Flames, Flyers, Lightning, Maple Leafs, Oilers, Penguins and Sabres. The company already has agreements with the Avalanche, Blackhawks, Blues, Bruins, Kings, Rangers and Red Wings. DraftKings also has league rights with the NHL. The team deals all include extensive arena signage and electronic media. DraftKings-branded lounges are being opened at the home arenas of the Rangers, Kings, and Maple Leafs (Terry Lefton, Editor-at-Large).
