NFL In Talks With Redskins, Eagles About Scheduling Around Hurricane

NFL officials are "in discussions with representatives" of the Redskins and Eagles about "potential weather-related scheduling contingencies in case Hurricane Joaquin impacts the DC area this weekend." The teams are currently slated to play at 1:00pm ET Sunday at FedExField (WASHINGTON POST, 10/1). Among the options discussed, the "easiest contingency could be to in essence postpone this week's game until next month in the Week 8 slot." Both teams have a bye in Week 8 (TWITTER.com, 9/30).

Meanwhile, Duke's athletic department "will look at the weather forecast" ahead of Saturday's scheduled 3:30pm kickoff against Boston College. Depending on the chances of rain, "as recorded in readings" taken at 8:30am and 1:00pm each day, tickets "will be discounted accordingly." The biggest discount will come if, at the time of the reading, there is a 90% chance of rain or greater, in which case general admission tickets will be discounted 50%. The first reading at 8:30am yesterday was 80% (ESPN.com, 9/30).

The Big Ten Network postponed Saturday's scheduled "BTN  Football Pregame" broadcast at the Univ. of Maryland "due to the forecasted inclement weather" (CARROLL COUNTY TIMES, 10/1).
