Pro-Bills Crowd of 56,044 Attends Game Against Jets In Detroit

The Lions said that 56,044 tickets were redeemed for the Bills' 38-3 win over the Jets in last night's game at Ford Field, which was moved from Buffalo following a snow storm. The "largest and loudest contingent were Buffalo fans" (DETROIT NEWS, 11/25). The crowd was "behind the Bills significantly more than the fans for any of the Bills' games in Toronto." The stadium crew "painted the familiar charging buffalo logo at midfield and stenciled 'Bills' in the end zones," and the "press-box meal included Buffalo chicken wings." Ralph Wilson’s widow, Mary Wilson, attended the game (BUFFALO NEWS, 11/25). There were "messages on the video boards encouraging donations to the Western New York and Buffalo Red Cross" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/25).

Red Sox Set To Introduce Big-Name Signings Sandoval, Ramirez

The Red Sox today will formally introduce recent acquisition 3B Pablo Sandoval in a 1:00pm ET press conference that will be streamed live on MLB.com and redsox.com. A deal for SS Hanley Ramirez "could also be announced later today" (MLB.com, 11/25). Both players "were in Boston on Monday for physicals." Ramirez agreed to a four-year, $88M deal, while Sandoval received a "five-year contract in the range" of $100M (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/25).

The Red Sox Twitter account "briefly became the subject of controversy" last night. In reference to the Ramirez and Sandoval signings, the account posted, "So how was everyone's Monday?" But the tweet was published "approximately 15 minutes after a St. Louis grand jury did not bring criminal charges" against police officer Darren Wilson over the shooting death of Michael Brown. The Red Sox were criticized for a "perceived lack of sensitivity and the tweet was soon deleted" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/25).

NBA Commissioner In Milwaukee To Meet With Bucks Ownership

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver today is visiting Milwaukee, where his itinerary will include a lunch with Bucks co-Owners Wes Edens and Marc Lasry, plus a "separate meeting with local owners of emerging businesses." Silver "also will spend time with Bucks sponsors" prior to tonight's home game against the Pistons. A source said that Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Exec Chris Abele also will meet with Silver (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/24).

NFL's Goodell Meeting With NFLPA's Smith On Personal Conduct

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith will meet this morning in N.Y., where the "personal conduct policy is to be discussed," according to a source. The source added that "some players and likely some owners also are expected to attend the meeting." This comes one week after Goodell's decision to suspend Vikings RB Adrian Peterson for at least the rest of the season "became a focal point in the broader fight over how to address personal conduct" (USA TODAY, 11/25).

NFLPA Assistant Exec Dir of External Affairs George Atallah this morning tweeted, "Yes, NFL and NFLPA meetings set for this morning. Two key questions for players: 1: Formal response to our proposal? 2: Bargaining or not?" (TWITTER.com, 11/25).

Latest DC United Stadium Bill Includes Use Of Eminent Domain

The DC Council today is set to advance DC United stadium legislation, "authorizing the use of eminent domain to acquire the land needed for the stadium." The bill "keeps much of a complex proposal" to build a $300M venue on Buzzard Point. Two committees have scheduled hearings on the reworked legislation, and Council Chair Phil Mendelson said that he "expected both panels to hold votes" today (WASHINGTON POST, 11/25).

Santa Clara Plans $2M In Events Around Super Bowl 50 In '16

Santa Clara officials unveiled a $2M package of "about a dozen events" leading up to Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in '16, "headlined by a parade and fireworks." The city will have to "raise private money for the showcase – and if that campaign falls short, taxpayers will be on the hook." Most of the money raised by the Super Bowl Host Committee "will be funneled" into S.F., "where the bulk of the 'official' activities will be held." The Santa Clara City Council today is set to approve the slate of events "and the hiring of a private fundraiser" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/25).

“One critic called them ‘a social phenomenon,’ ‘the most widely recognized group…since John, Paul, George and Ringo.’”

Laugh Track....Catch Phrase

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon: “Over the weekend, President Obama played golf with Derek Jeter in Las Vegas. Jeter enjoyed hearing Obama describe what it's like to be president while Obama enjoyed listening to Jeter describe what it's like to be retired. He's like, ‘Really? You just wear sweatpants all day? Sounds so great.’... Last night, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made what people are calling the catch of the year. … He snagged that thing like a middle-aged bridesmaid going after the bouquet. He was like, ‘Out of my way! I got it. Get out of my way!’ One-handed catch. Amazing. Eli Manning was like, ‘Nice catch,’ and Odell Beckham was like, ‘Crappy throw’” ("The Tonight Show,” NBC, 11/24).

CBS’ David Letterman: “We're talking about that catch that Odell Beckham Jr. (made) yesterday, the one-handed catch. First of all, it's in the deep corner of the end zone, he's being interfered with (and) the Cowboys are all over the guy. He reaches up (with) one hand and he is able to grab the football for a touchdown. And the best part of the whole thing? The Giants only lost by three points. What a catch! It's being called the greatest catch in NFL history, not counting Gisele Bündchen” (“Late Show,” CBS, 11/24).

These are the questions on the application” ("Late Show,” CBS, 11/24).
