NBC Sports To Name Weir, Lipinski Its Lead Figure Skating Team

NBC Sports today is expected to announce that it has promoted Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski to its lead on-air team for figure skating. The duo "will be the prime-time voices" of the sport at the '18 Pyeongchang Games, but they "will start in their new roles during the NBC broadcast of Skate America on Sunday." They replace Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic. Terry Gannon will take over hosting duties from Tom Hammond. Hamilton will be a "special correspondent for major figure skating events" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/22).
