DirecTV Announces Eight-Year Renewal Of NFL Sunday Ticket

DirecTV is paying an average of $1.5B per year for the package, with the rights fee increasing by 6% each year. The deal extends through the '22 season and synchs up with the NFL's other TV deals. CBS, Fox and NBC's deals all end after the '22 season; ESPN's deal ends after '21. The agreement also clears the way for AT&T to complete its acquisition of DirecTV. AT&T's takeover had included the stipulation that it could get out of the acquisition if DirecTV failed to complete the NFL Sunday Ticket renewal.
