Royals' Ned Yost Calls Out Fan Base Over Sparse Crowd

A crowd of 13,847 attended last night's Twins-Royals game at Kauffman Stadium, and AL Central-leading Royals manager Ned Yost reacted with sarcasm in his postgame press conference: "I mean, what, 13,000 people got to see a great game?" When asked if he expected a bigger crowd, Yost said, "We’re in a pennant race, yeah. We’ve been working on trying to build this team for the last three or four years to put ourselves in a position where we can contend for a championship. ... We had a great crowd last night, and I was kind of hoping we’d have another great crowd tonight, and we really didn’t" (K.C. STAR, 8/27).
