Mariners Sign GM Jack Zduriencik To Multiyear Extension

The Mariners have signed Exec VP & GM Jack Zduriencik to a multiyear contract extension. Zduriencik, currently in his sixth year as GM, was "operating on a one-year deal this season." Mariners President Kevin Mather said that the "negotiation went quickly after he broached the subject with Zduriencik at lunch Tuesday." Zduriencik is the eighth GM in club history and is "credited with helping rebuild the club's farm system and and developing a young core" (MLB.com, 8/26).
