Baseball Project's Third Album Reunites Former R.E.M. Members

The Baseball Project's third album, "3rd," is being released today, and the band continues to play songs "exclusively about America's national pastime." Former R.E.M. members Mike Mills and Peter Buck reunited in the band along with Steve Wynn, Scott McCaughey and Linda Pitmon. Songs on the album include "From Nails to Thumbtacks," about Lenny Dykstra, and "13," a "ripping denouncement" of Alex Rodriguez. Also, "The Day Dock Went Hunting Heads" tells the story of Dock Ellis throwing a no-hitter for the Pirates while on LSD in '70 (N.Y. POST, 3/23).
