NBA, SAP Expand Statistics Site To Include Video Boxscores

NBA and analytics software partner SAP have expanded the NBA.com/stats online destination to include new video boxscores. The site’s statistics are now hyperlinked directly to video highlights for each event depicted in the numbers. NBA VP/Operations & Technology Ken DeGannaro said, “We believe this is the first time video of every play of every game has been married to the statistics.” Video will be available for the current NBA season as well as the '12-13 season, and is updated about 45 minutes to an hour after each game.

The NBA and SAP debuted the new stats destination to the public in February, and began working during the summer on linking video. The video also opens up a large battery of new digital media inventory for the league, as the clips on NBA.com/stats will contain pre-roll spots. The NBA’s work with SAP on linking stats to video runs parallel to its relationship with Stats LLC for leaguewide player tracking.
