Forward Market Media Allows Fans To Reserve Super Bowl Tickets

Chicago-based Forward Market Media (FMM) today is launching a website exchange that will allow NFL fans to lock in tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII, as well as other events, airline tickets and perks around the game. For a reservation fee, consumers can lock in a face-value ticket, hotel room and tickets to events like Broadway plays and Super Bowl parties. If the fan's chosen team does not make the game, the reservation expires and the fan loses the fee. The fees vary based on the record of the team. Fans who buy the forward market contracts can also trade them.

The company, which also runs such markets for college football bowl games, is advertising the service on FoxSports.com for the next few months. FMM CEO Rick Harmon: "In the past, real fans would have to wait until late in the season to know whether their team was playing in the Big Game."
