MLB Inks Multiyear Deal With MTV That Includes Weekly Series

MLB has signed a multiyear partnership with MTV that will include a weekly, 30-episode series on MTV2. The series will debut in April and will be produced by Red Sox DH David Ortiz and Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen from the MLB Fan Cave in N.Y. The point of the series is to highlight MLB players’ personalities to a younger audience. MLB execs are encouraged by the popularity of Fan Cave and believe this is a logical step.

MLB Exec VP/Business Tim Brosnan in a statement said, "The MLB Fan Cave has been an enormous success in showcasing the personalities of our star players to young fans and intersecting baseball with pop culture. Being able to partner with MTV on a weekly TV series will give us an opportunity to bring that concept to an even broader audience." Content will be available on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Jams.
