The TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course closed Monday for “an estimated three weeks to undergo the most extensive course improvements” since ’06 (JACKSONVILLE.com, 6/18).

Fifth Third Bank has signed a deal to become the preferred bank of Kentucky Speedway. Per the deal, the bank will sponsor a kids zone during the June 27-29 race weekend highlighted by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 (Kentucky Speedway).

The Angels last night held a ceremony prior to their game against the Mariners to honor “the 70th anniversary of the creation of the women’s baseball league that inspired the movie ‘A League of Their Own.’” Players from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and actresses from the ’92 movie were recognized (OCREGISTER.com, 6/17).

Rolex, the official timekeeper of the U.S. Open, is running a full-page ad in today’s N.Y. Times that features a general shot of Merion Golf Club and the copy, “It’s Narrow Fairways Overflow With History, While Its Rolling Greens Greet Each Putt With Unpredictability” (THE DAILY).

Zurich Insurance is running an ad in this morning’s USA Today congratulating Justin Rose on winning the U.S. Open (THE DAILY).
