The National Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association last night held its annual HOF banquet in Salisbury, N.C., naming NBC’s Dan Patrick Sportscaster of the Year and SI’s Peter King Sportswriter of the Year. The evening also featured the induction of ESPN’s Dick Vitale and Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom into its HOF. New presentations at the event included awards for high school sportscasters and writers in the namesake of Bob Costas and Bob Ryan, in addition to the previously awarded honor to college students by Jim Nantz.

Catawba College hosted the event, and school President Brien Lewis announced that the college is furbishing a permanent HQs for the NSSA on its campus to open this summer.
