CBS Sports Promotes Berson To President, Likely Future Chair

CBS Sports has promoted David Berson to President, positioning the 40-year-old exec as the heir apparent to network Chair Sean McManus. McManus said, "I have no plans to go anywhere in the near future. I still love what I do. But David has earned the right to have a larger role at CBS Sports, and at some point, if things go according to plan, he will be running CBS Sports." The promotion was McManus' idea, envisioned when he hired Berson in '11 as CBS Sports Exec VP and CBS Sports Network President.

Berson will continue to report to McManus and will have a larger role overseeing the day-to-day management of the division. McManus: "On larger strategic issues and larger production issues, I will still be very involved. I will slowly let David take over some of the day-to-day responsibility: negotiations with our talent, programming decisions, personnel decisions."
