Louisville, Michigan Give College Basketball A Classic Title Game

Louisville won its third NCAA men's basketball title by defeating Michigan 82-76 last night before a championship game-record crowd of 74,326 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta (Mult., 4/8). Below is a roundup of headlines following the game:


The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION's Mark Bradley writes, "It was all anyone could want from a championship game, and it came at time when the sport needed it." The WASHINGTON POST's John Feinstein writes the game was "best described by one word: Wow." The N.Y. POST's Mike Vaccaro: "This is exactly what you want out of a championship game." The ARIZONA REPUBLIC's Paola Boivin: "College basketball finally gave us its one shining moment."

Louisville national championship T-shirts went on sale "before daybreak" today at the NCAA's Final Four Superstore, a "temporary store set up for the weekend" in the Buckhead area of Atlanta (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 4/9).
