Coinciding with Opening Day for most of its teams, MLB today is beginning a month-long campaign supporting autism awareness. A program with Autism Speaks, which calls itself the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, will see all 30 MLB clubs set a home game to raise awareness of autism. At those games, members of the autism community will be recognized and participate in baseball rites, including throwing out the first pitch, singing the national anthem or “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
