Auto Club Speedway's Sprint Cup Race Sees Attendance Boost

An estimated crowd of 85,000 attended yesterday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 400, marking the "biggest" crowd at Auto Club Speedway "in perhaps as many as 13 years." The crowd "could be indicative of a healthier financial picture" for the Southern California track, whose staff "spent the last six months promoting the event from Bakersfield to San Diego." The track has "increased efforts to attract Latinos and Asians in addition to the youth," and it has "embraced social media" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 3/25).
