USGA Replacing Public Links Championships With Four-Ball Events

USGA VP & Championship Committee Chair Thomas O’Toole and USGA Senior Managing Dir John Bodenhamer appeared in-studio today on Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” to formally announce the men’s and women’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championships, which will begin in ‘15. O’Toole said it is the “first time in 25 years we’ve announced new championships” (“Morning Drive,” Golf Channel, 2/11). The four-ball events will replace the U.S. Amateur Public Links and U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, which become "the first USGA championships to be retired" (GOLFWEEK.com, 2/11).
