USA Sevens Rugby May Need New Stadium To Remain In Vegas

USA Sevens Rugby's three-day, 16-team tournament kicks off today at Sam Boyd Stadium, and whether the event will remain in Las Vegas past '14 "could depend largely on whether the proposed stadium at UNLV is approved." USA Sevens Rugby Exec VP Dan Lyle said Vegas is a "world-class city without a world-class facility." However, he was "careful to say he doesn't want to leave Vegas." The tourney has been at Sam Boyd for three years and inked a two-year extension last year after the games drew 64,107 fans (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 2/8).
